Painful...caution advised
This is the epitome of painful to post...
[IMG][/IMG]
I was driving the truck this afternoon. We were about 35 miles from home. I had just stopped at a traffic light prior to making a right turn. I made the turn and rolled into the throttle. It began to accelerate...stumbled and DIED. No warning, no CEL...just a reduced power message as it DIED...over a half tank of fuel, plenty of DEF and no warning.
It would not restart. I called Ford Road Roadside Assistance. Within 45 minutes, I waved good bye as my baby left on the hook...
I am not as worried about what may have failed, as I suspect a faulty sensor, as I am concerned about who may be working on it...I am hoping this tech has a clue...

Rickatic,
Sorry to see that nice truck of yours on the hook like that. It can happen to any brand at anytime. With all the electronics and sensors these modern trucks have, they're still pretty reliable but when something does go wrong, you can't just open the hood and fix it yourself. Hopefully it's a quick fix, and thanks for being honest about it. At least it was a Ford tow truck!

I have not posted this over at RVnet yet...but I likely will. Stuff happens and like was said earlier, there are a bunch of sensors in this truck to cause some issue like this.

No doubt it is something simple and electronic. It still looks like the Chihuahua under the hood is rock solid on these trucks. Most of the minor issues that we have seen so far (at least on pickups) have been electronic. The quality of the electronics on these trucks needs to be Ford's next focus. You would think after 15 years or more of CPS failures that they would have made the quality of the electronics a higher priority.

Im getting realy tired of hearing of folks being left on the side of the road with a dead truck because an emmissions system or worse yet a bogus emmissions sensor shuts them down. Its time to turn back all this environmental crap. Its making the USA uncompetitive and the laughing stock of the world. Unleash the Americcan industrial machine and watch the economy soar. Think what these trucks could be if the government wasnt screwing them up.
