::Facepalm::

RevX works but not for the reasons he claims. Hotshot not so much.

You should check your FICM voltage and do a little more trouble shooting before you overpay for an additive.

I tried rev-x and it fixed my overdrive stumble. My truck still smokes a little for 3-5 minutes on the first start of the day. My FICM V is low.

Hot shots is a scam! (personal experience) however rev-x works, but you are still only masking the real problem. At $80 per treatment its only cheaper then new injectors for so long.

HotShots was a developed for IH/Ford according to them and has a money back guarantee http://www.hotshotsecret.com/

I have run it twice
I bought it originally for stiction but before It arrived the dealer replaced 2 injectors so I never really got to see if it would clear it up so now I run it for PM evey so often

So, once our injectors suffer from stiction, the only real fix it to replace it?

No, try Rev-X, I dont think you need to use it every oil change.

I used it and it was great...my truck runs so much smoother now and doesn't have that OD stumble. Cold starts are easier too. I'll use only one bottle for my next oil change....I will have over 210K at that point and I have the impression the PO wasn't too emphatic with his routine maintenance on this truck. I am thinking the smoking I have at initial start up is due to either low FICM V or fuel pressure issue that the blue spring kit will help with. Both of which I will be working on before winter.

Yes, RevX will only mask the problem it's a bandaid the underling problem still exists and will continue to grow.

AGE, RevX is only masking the problem that causes stiction, the problem will continue to grow and grow as time goes on. Eventually the injector will have to be replaced. The cost effectiveness if on a continuum so it's impossible to calculate accurately but I would guess, being that all injectors are going to suffer ~equally, using something like RevX (insane margins) is only going to be economical for very few, perhaps not even once, uses...

So then, what can be done to prevent the issue?

I don't know what's in it, how it works, or how long it will last but RevX is making me happy right now. I had some cold start/running issues that were getting very annoying and they are gone. Cold start and running are no different from warm now. I put it in Thursday evening and let the truck idle for about 5min. Friday morning was significantly better, coming home Friday was great and today is still the same. Oh if it could only last....

I was having rough starts cold in the winter and tried Hot Shots. I thought it made things better, but it may have just been me hoping it made things better. The rough starts came back the next winter. I switched to 5W-40 synthetic (Rotella T6) and it's been fine since.
