Drive line Driveshaft Vibration 35-45 mph

Hello, My first post, hope doing correctly
I like this site, joined awhile ago, the forums are very helpful.

I own 2000 F350 7.3L EX cab long bed, no lift kit, stock tires.
Here is the problem, drive line vibration 35-34mph, above and below very smooth. The u-joints, carrier bearing replaced, greased the slip joint (did this myself. marked before disassemble).

No vibration before this was done. Had machine shop do work (joints and carrier brg), when I got it back shaft was marked, appears went on the way it came off. The new u-joints have grease fitting , old didn't.

Any ideas, I'm taking to drive shaft place to have it balanced. The said drive-shaft vibration usually occurs at higher speeds, ie 50-70mph.
Also a note, when I lubed the slip-joint the thud/clunk when taking off from stop went away.

thanks, Mark

Ok driveshaft vibration has gone away

I got the drive shaft back from the drive line shop, they removed the Precision u-joints that were just installed at a parts/machine shop and install Spicer original u-joints plus balancing the shaft. They said the precision joints have to much end play and the Spicer are much more heavy duty. The u-joints were the main problem.

One thing I did notice is when I took the shaft out after the first set of joints were installed, I took off on of the caps and there was a very funny pattern on the brg surface, not even.
Anyway problem is fixed.

Not sure how much lift you have on your truck but on my 2000, I had a 6.5" lift and shimmed the carrier bearing down about an 1.5-2". I bought my dropdown bracket from Rubicon Express. Looks like they may not be in the SD lift business anymore, no mention of it on their site any longer.

Anyways, start with the inch block you have and go from there.

well i put the 1 inch block in and it cleared it up, (almost) the vibration is about 80% gone so im thinkin ill put the 2" inch block in there. the 1 inch block i thought i had was actually 1.5" inch soo im thinkin 2" should do the trick

Is that a solid piece of steel? The end looks like it has a cap on it or something. Regardless, looks like a good fit!

The bracket I bought was like a 1/4" piece of steel shaped like a square C. Glad it worked!
