With the '96 bracket installed the original studs from the '92 bracket didn't fit. They were too short. I guess I'll be going to the hardware store tomorrow. Again. Also the throttle cable bracket (not bolted up) in place... sort of.

'96 vs '86 radiator. Mine was leaking and was quite thin...

Alright after reading about Ford's wonderful speed density system (which is usually a God send with most manufacturers) is trash. From the sounds of it they just use the MAP simply to determine altitude and manifold pressure for ignition timing. Forced induction on that system would be the death of it. So now I'm after a wiring harness from an 1996 F-150 with a 4.9L. I'll have to install the MAF on the intake side of the turbo and check live data to see if it's adequate....

I saw this when I was looking into other 4.9L turbo set ups. What a joke...

I had to add the alternator wiring to the 1986 body harness

Harness installed.

This is where the motor is at... still need to run to the hardware store. Difficult with a disabled truck.

Then I did this in the rain.

Oh yeah! wired in the 4x4 switch.

I looked into wastegate control on the HX35 and it looks like the best method will be to run an external wastegate off the exhaust housing.

Here's an interesting turbo set up. Seems decent...

Throttle bracket finally on. Also I'm scrapping the speed density system in favor of something a little newer. I stripped the harness from a 1996 F-150. I had no idea the '96 has a crank sensor, 3 oxygen sensors, and a DPFE sensor.

Look at the difference between the speed density batch fire injector harness and the sequential injection 1996 harness.

Pulling the SD injector harness out...

SD '92 TPS VS SFI '96 TPS

MAF hooked up, waiting on '96 harness diagram.

Started pulling apart the '86 wiring harness from the ignition.

I pulled apart the harness coming out of the cab near the master cylinder. I stripped the wires back and it appears there is two wires that power up when the key is on the run position. Perfect for the new ECU and fuel pump.

I will prolly never put a F.I. Turbo in anything, but this is interesting and educational. Waiting for the next installment! What kinda power are you looking for?

Thanks. I'm going to have to drop the tank soon and see if my fuel pump assembly will fit in my carbed tank. I kind of doubt it, but I have my fingers crossed. You know, all the turbo set ups that I've seen (I'm not saying all of them) have had pretty poor fuel systems and charge cooling. I don't think I've even seen one with an intercooler. I'll be using a pretty standard Walboro 255 lph pump in the tank, 24# injectors, and an FMU to get me off the ground and running. Once everything is dialed in with the wideband O2, 43# injectors, and external wastegate (and when I can justify spending the money) I'll be removing the FMU and bringing the truck in to get tuned professionally to a place in SD who does a lot of the big power Mustangs. While I don't really have a number in mind I'd like to see 300 whp and 400 wtq just because based off other systems I've seen that have been supposedly dyno'd mine should be a little better off. Then after that it's head porting and a mild cam. We'll see what the tuner say if there's a lot more potential to be made with a built motor that's a possibility in the future as well. For now it just needs to run and be a blast around town.

On a side note I was watching a mud bogging video and it appears they have a class for 6 cylinder trucks some places... I wonder how this would do... or even pulling... should be interesting.
