A-pillar guage pod

Got started this morning on making the mold for it. Mold is out of styrofoam, the pod itself will be fiberglass. 3 guages and a tach. Just figured i would make a thread about it and try to do some sort of write up with pics. Phone is broke and cant find the camera, but i will get some pics up.

Depending on how smooth this goes and how it turns out, i might think about making some more.

Well... that last guy might have been me lol. I said i was going to build myself one and would probably make more, but never got around to doing it. But i officially started, and officially have no idea how it will turn out, i have a bit of experience making glass pieces, but not of making molds. Right now my main concern is how sturdy it will be secured, without taking out the window, or having the advantaes of blown plastic makes screwing the back a bit of a problem. At least the way mine fits, sun visor modification is going to be necessary. Well in order to put it down, and sweep across

There have been a few guys who said they are going to make them and few if any who have.

75F350 has his fiberglass guy working on one but I think it got put on hold because other projects were more important.

I'm subscribing to this to see how it turns out.

As for the mod - just make sure to make it heavy/sturdy enough to pop multiple parts out of it without it deflecting/deforming. Also make sure to give it a proper cure time before popping the 1st part out of it. Oh and wax it well when you do make the parts...

I used Glo Shift gauges, they come with a mount that hides behind the weatherstrip along with the small wires, its all hidden. Nice quality gauges, accurate and have visible and audible alarms, also can swith them between 10 different colors at the touch of a button

Have you used the glowshifts much so far? Just read on another forum that the guy wasn't super happy with his. I guess the gauge was supposed to remember the last color it was set on and only 1/2 did and then the colors were different (say blue - on each gauge) from gauge to gauge.

I'm interested for sure. I was looking in to making one myself then I decided against it since I don't have enough experience with fiberglass. Some, but not much. I hope this turns out.

I don't have any personally, but a close friend had them in his cummins. For the money he would definately buy them again, he did have a problem with one of his gauges, called glowshift and they sent him a new one.

There have been numerous people complain about them on all forums, but none of them have tried contacting glowshift about it, they just spread the CHEAP word.
