I am looking at a vehical for my sister in law, it has the 2000 V8 with 248,000 miles on it.. The body and interior are beutiful, but this kind of milage bothers me.. any thoughts

Compare at KBB and Edmunds first... overpriced!
I'm not so much concerned about the mileage as I am with their asking price... $4,900? The pictures would seem to indicate a fair amount of wear and tear (missing RF hubcap, paint pitting on front right grill, scrapes on the bumper...) and the interior photo strategically avoided showing you the condition of the drivers seat.
It looks pretty clean, but far from "excellent" condition... more like "good" condition. KBB says $4015 for a private party sale in "good" condition. Edmunds is way more harsh at only $1531 (factoring in a $1785 discount on the mileage). NADA is more generous giving a "clean retail" value of $5195 (factoring in a $1880 discount on the mileage), but this doesn't look like clean retail to me.
Of course, you need to give this a first hand look to judge. Sure, it may have once been an "auto executive's car"... but I guarantee you that no true auto executive would be driving anything more than a couple years old... more likely the kids or the help have been driving this for some time.
For not too much more I see other 2000 Navigators with much lower mileage... but a few of these seem to have a little more wear and tear. Bottom line... there's lots of Navigators out there... so do your homework. Without looking at this vehicle in person, I would more likely say it's worth $4100 at most.
