1954 Ford 223 factory carb spacer - looking for one.

I have a 223 that had a factory spacer made out of composite material that I have misplaced / lost. I was wondering if anybody knows where to get one or may have one they are willing to let go.

Thanks.

I don't have a spacer, but I do have what appears to be a governor from a 60s 6 cyl engine.

It's pictured at the top of the intake.

When I rebuild my 223 I ordered it from Rock Auto. What came was a bunch of gaskets, I think 6 or so. The intent was to stack them to make up the thickness of the original spacer. It worked.

Without a governor, there is no spacer and there never was, just a stack of gaskets.

This is all that's listed for 223's: 1963/64 F100/600: C3TZ-9A589-A .. 223/262 Carburetor Spacer-Use with Governor.

There's nothing listed in the car parts catalogs for 223's.

I have my old one around (which was just a stack of gaskets that looked like a spacer since they glued themselves together over time with heat), but when I redid my truck I just kept cutting out new gaskets and piling them up to get the proper height. There wasn't any spacer per se as ND stated.

Ok, thanks guys. I remembered mine as being a solid piece. Probably just a stack of gaskets though. Other than allowing the carb to fully close did it serve a purpose?

Yes the manual states the use of 7-9 gaskets.

The infamous "Michael Mayben" who roams many different forums and knows Holley's like the back of his hand actually has his own custom made spacers. If you can track him down, he'll probably sell you one. Not sure how much.

Saves the effort of buying 7-9, rather only two gaskets that at NAPA cost something like $2.XX each.

Get some gasket paper and a small ball peen hammer and go for it. No need to spend $2 each!

'48/56 truck parts catalog sez 3 to 6 of the following:

B6A-9447-B (replaced C2DZ-9447-A & C2UZ-9447-A) .. Gasket-Carburetor to Intake Manifold / Obsolete

Applications: 1952/53 215 I-6 / 1954/64 223 I-6 / 1960/62 144/170 I-6 (Falcon/Comet/Fairlane/Econoline).

B6A-9447-B =

SOEBY MOTOR CO. in Walhalla ND has 5 = 701-549-3711.

GRIESEL MOTOR CO. in Okarche OK has 9 = 405-263-7242.

MILLER OBSOLETE PARTS in Binghamton NY has 12 = 607-722-5371.
------------------------------------------------------------------
C2DZ-9447-A =

MILLER OBSOLETE PARTS has 14.

WESLEY OBSOLETE PARTS in Liberty KY has 15 = 606-787-5293.

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 28 = 800-543-4959.

Call around for the best price...You can make 'em by using gasket paper, a hammer and scissors, but it's a time consuming process.

Yes!! Makes perfect gaskets every time. Better than shears when you get the hang of it. I have a set of ball peens I use only for gaskets and u - joints.

Honestly I agree with the buzzar, I need to see this, as I'm having a hard time imagining this in my head.

Lay a piece of gasket paper over the hole in the manifold, then go tap tap tap around the outside/inside with a hammer. Then cut the puppy out with scissors...repeat as necessary.
