Ok i found a hypermax turbo kit on C list for 1000 bucks. the guy says its all there but i havent gone to look at it yet. what you guys think? anyone have any expirence with hypermax?
1000.00??? If you lived close to CA you can get full turbo kits for 150.00-300.00. Look on ebay for turbo kits for our trucks notice how 85% or more are from CA? Those things are a dime a dozen out here and it sucks but a lot of them go to waste at the junkyards instead of being rebuilt and re used! Wish there was more IDI guys out here!!
thanks guys, i thought 84 had one but i couldent remember. idi's are not real common in in west central ohio. Bellefontaine ehh, im right up 33 from ya 86
Yes i do have one. Stick and autos make a difference in the way the up pipes are bent. After doing it once they are very simple and easy to put on, no real issues getting things to seal. The biggest issue you will hae is relocating your glowplug controller. If it's for a 6.9l you may need some parts for hypermax to move it.
Might not. I had to tell them i had a c6 BUT now that i think about it it may just be because the c6 needs a dipstick tube and modulator line. I went out and looked and the left up pipe seems to have plenty of clearance for the clutch fork, so they may just fit ok. how wide is the top of the zf?
Yep plan on about 8-10hours. Most of it is just making room for the turbo. If its taken off a truck you will need a valve cover gasket, IIRC 1 5/8" hole saw. and make sure you get the cdr blockoff plug for the back of the intake. and a 9/16 crows foot for the oil supply fittings on the turbo.
i was looking at the directions ( i know a first for me too) it looks like theres some moveing fo wireing and fuel lines. where dose the oil drain line go to?
The turbo drain goes into the valley pan where the cdr used to pull from, you will want to take a sharp punch and pound some hole into the bottom part of the pan to allow the oil to drain. Spool at low rpms is nothing like a wastegate, but at higher rpms i just set the smoke switch to bad economy, and it takes about 1sec to built about 7 psi The way i have my pump set now the 7-10 takes a bit. but right now im pulling air from the engine bay, til i figure out how to hook it back up to pull from the outside, my flex pipe for my intake was way too stiff to make the bend.
As you can see its tight
