Is your windshield leaking around the drivers side area?
Might sound silly, but i've heard abit to many times, and especially on Fords, windows LOVE leaking and causes this problem.
The windshield leaks right on the tranny computer witch is located in the drivers side kick panel, and can sometimes make the E4OD act funny.

ok,you NEED to set the tps properly when you instal it.otherwise the trans will act seriously wrong.
measure the voltage @ the center wire with the key on,and engine off.
hold the throttle wide open.loosen the nuts and spin the sensor so you get at least 3.8 V and more than 4.3V.
now let off the throttle and adjust so you have 1.05 min and 1.1 max.
double check that the WOT is still in range after tweaking.adjust as needed.
take her for a drive.
if you see she's downshifting a bit too early for ya,raise the voltage from 1.05 upward to like 1.07 and double check the WOT.
continue adjusting like this,making sure she stays within range,until you have her setup perfect for you and your truck.
take your time,getting it perfect is worth it.
i have mine set more towards the higher voltage so she doesn't cry 3rd at every ant hill. but not so high that she wants to lug either.by the time she does ask for 3rd though.......she means it. pre-hill with a load,if i hit it,she's downshifting no questions asked.experiment and tweak.just stay within range.i went a little high to hold OD a bit longer for fuel economy purposes.yet,not so high that i need to use the cancel button either (well,fine line almost sometimes depending on hill/load and how picky i feel like getting for fuel economy.)
you'll get the idea soon enough.
..........
trans temp;
ok,i trust that 180-380 was a typo? you didn't really see 380 or even 280 did you?
where did you place the sensor? the tans test port? do you have an external cooler?
trans temps roughly @ the pan/e40ds test port;
150 minimum.
175 ideally.
200 max.
200 - 250 short bursts is ok,but not preferred.best to add enough cooler(with fan if required) so this never,or at least rarely happens.
if it does happen a few times,count on changing the fluid every 15 -20k miles max.
nice chart here (which pretty much confirms against all other basic trans fluid/trans flush interval research iv done.)

the trans computer is easy to find.it's located in the engine bay on the firewall.at least the connector to it.i guess it probably is actually bolted inside behind the drivers kick panel if you had to replace it yeah.
anyway,it sports a 10 mm size bolt right in the center of the harness.look way down in beside the drivers front fender/brake booster and you'll see it.
