Thanks.
No, the carb was his doing. He lets the thing sit too much which obviously you can't do with a carburetor because things get gummed up. There was something sticky with one of the floats and it wasn't running right so he took it to my guy to to get rebuilt. Expensive but it looks brand new. First time I took a carb to this guy I was about to yell at him for replacing it.
The wires were my doing. Last year I picked up a laser thermometer off the tool truck and was playing around with it. I noticed one of his cylinders was reading 120 degrees from radiant temperature and all the others were reading 400+, so obviously there was a miss but it's hilarious that there were no signs of it because we were towing 12,000lb from Calgary to home with no issues. I hooked up my vacuum gauge and it told me it was a spark issue so I put in new plugs and wires. Runs MUCH smoother now but there's soot caked in the exhaust from the misfire so it blows black now. That'll eventually clear up.
My truck is getting masked for paint tomorrow. Goal is to have it painted by Friday. I'm excited! Here's how that seamless tucked roll pan I fabbed up for it looks in primer.

I'm not big on rubbing things in. I'm sure he's already pissed off at himself. I greased the doors and hood as well as adjusted the latch to take his mind off it. He seems to think that body slamming the hood to close it is normal. It's not. That damages latches and that's what caused mine to fail on the road. Now you can just gently push the hood closed. That cheered him up a bit.
