Unhappy Fuel Tank Problem

I am trying to help my husband locate a part for his 1978 Ranchero. He is replacing the fuel tank and all the parts that go along with it. He is having problems locating the pipe (possibly galvanized) that is inserted into the fuel tank and then is fitted inside a rubber hose. These two then go to the filler neck and then ultimately to the fuel door. Any idea what the "galvanized pipe is called and where someone could find it? My husband describes it as only being 2" - 4" long.

Thanks for the help!

Welcome to FTE

D8OZ-9034-A (replaced D7OZ-9034-E ) .. Fuel Tank Filler Tube-Use with Unleaded Fuel only / Obsolete

Applications: 1977/79 Ranchero.
-------------------------------
D8OZ-9034-B .. Fuel Tank Filler Tube-Use with Leaded Fuel (Canada) only / Obsolete

Applications: 1978/79 Ranchero.

The difference in these two tubes:

1) With unleaded gas, there is a restrictor inside that only allows the smaller in diameter (at that time) gas station unleaded nozzles to fit in. The un-vented fuel cap used with this tube has four "ears".

2) The leaded gas tube has no restrictor, the vented fuel cap has two "ears." The gas station nozzles 'back then' were larger in diameter with leaded gas.

Sorry, no FoMoCo Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any of these three part numbers.

The OP needs the steel fuel filler tube, not a gas tank. The tube is separate.
