Does anyone know the original exhaust pipe sizes for the 5.0-equipped F-150?
Mainly the headpipe after the converters before they combine, then the pipe from there thru the resonator (if so-equipped) to the muffler. I already know the tailpipe is 3" dia. by my measurement. I get a feeling there is SOME improvement possible over the stock system, but not very much. Mainly a muffler change to get desired sound, mainly more of it.
So if anyone has the lowdown on this, let it be heard!

 

It does have a resonator and it is 2.5 inches in and out. Can't tell you about the rest of the system as all I make is the resonator.

 

Interesting!(and THANK YOU!!) This demonstrates a trend Ford is taking with truck exhaust systems. The Super Duty 6.2 exhaust uses 3" pipes from the converter to the resonator, then a single 3" pipe to the muffler, then a 3-1/2" tailpipe.
The trend is that of using a LARGER tailpipe than those before it in the system, rather than the same size or smaller tailpipe like has been done in the not-too-distant past. And from what what you've just told me, I figure that a 3" pipe from the Y-pipe to a 3"-inlet muffler should improve things nicely.
