Yeah, it seems that's a problem with them as they age.

I have a 1981 with the two solitary buzzers; the headlights-on functionality *used to* work but it seems to have stopped at some point recently.

Last time I was messing with this, my problem seemed to be bad contacts in the driver's door jamb switch. I cleaned everything up and it worked again for a while but no more.

Haven't tried thwapping the thing with my finger (same as slamming the door, my dash pad isn't on so it's easy to do the finger-thwap )yet to see if it'll spring to life.

If you pull yours out and open it up, you might be able to clean the contacts, or maybe bend 'em.

Be careful, though, the insides are pretty delicate:

The Engineering ID Numbers that Ford inscribes on most of its parts are NOT replacement part numbers. They can maybe be used in eBay searches and the like but they're generally of limited use to a parts guy if you go into your local dealership.

That first one - E4TZ-924-A - I saw that on the eBay site, I'm thinking the seller is clueless.

I'm thinking those in the eBay ads would also work.

It seems there are some Ford dealers around the country that have them in stock, you might ask at a local dealership, too.

As far as your headlight-on buzzer goes, even if you don't have the physical buzzer, see if you have the connector for it.

IMHO it's easy to remove the dash pad, this gives you MUCH easier access to what's behind/underneath there.

The headlight-on buzzer has 3 contacts in a sort-of L shape, and the unit itself is marked E0TB-13150-AA on the back:

im mainly wanting the "hey idiot your lights/battery is/are on check them" buzzer, but I dont mind key in (but I hope i can ****** up the 7 pin one for all features), I do have the white one plugged in right now so its working but its just key in functionality (not sure if it does more tho)

 

Yeah, you can go to Rock Auto (for example) and buy a Motorcraft SW-1822, it's a different reference number for the same thing.

Look it up on Motorcraft's site.

 

ok, I just want to try and make sure that if SW-1822 is a 7 pin buzzer thats what Im gonna get and not get some other door chime POS...

 

Just in case another member comes across this thread wondering about the buzzers or glove box, here's a few pics of what I have.

My truck is a non-a/c truck, so it has a deeper glove box. However the a/c glove box still mounts the same. This picture show the glove box upside down. The little cutout section is where the latch and the glove box light assembly would contact the box. That cutout section is the top of the box. Also, you can see that one of my tabs are missing. This further demonstrates the previous point of the cardboard glove box being easily torn. I have circled each of the screw holes in red. As you can see, there are only 7 screws. Once you remove these, you can slide the glove box out, and get easy access to the buzzers above. I highly recommend removing the glove box before the dash pad, since a new glove box can be easily made out of new cardboard, or even thin sheet metal. A dash pad is not easily replaced, especially if you prefer a stock dash pad and not an aftermarket cover.

I found a plastic glove box in a yard, the cardboard ones are just WAY too fragile.

Most of the plastic ones I see are for A/C but I lucked out somehow and found a non-A/C variant.

 

i would suggest stickying this topic for others at least would be good to have for any future people looking info about the buzzer(s)

 

Post your results when you get your parts and we can do that.

I wanna make sure everything we're talking about here WORKS AS DESCRIBED before we send some other lost soul on this route.

ok, I have the white 6 pin chime thats the key in/on buzzer and its working, Ill get back with the efforts of the 7 pin once im able to buy it, but so far its all good, annoying (and I already had one person tell me it annoyed them so its doing its job), so lets sticky this and call it a success, Ill post up pics when I can and update once i get the 7pin

 

If I recall correctly, some time around 1985, Ford switched to plastic glove box liners. They still offered non-a/c trucks then, so that would explain why.
