Thanks for posting more pics. That truck looks really good to me... I'm sorry I'm missing out on this one but I hope the Rage gets it. I want to try and shoot some video of it running/driving if I can.

Cross your fingers as this truck might be finding a new home!

I was searching YouTube and came across a video of this truck. I had no idea this had been posted. Gives you a pretty good idea of how it looks and you can hear it running. Info is below:

I'm cruising over to have a look at it on Sunday. If it meets my expectations (and I'm pretty sure it will), it's heading home with me. It sounds like a couple FTE'ers might be meeting me over there. Could be a fun trip! I'll let you know if I get the deal made.

I shouldn't have watched the video. I'm jealous.
I hope you get it BOR.
You will have to take a picture with you and the other FTEr's and your new truck.

Hope you can give it a new home. I'm close enough to have done it, but have so far resisted expanding my inventory past the '51 and '52 model years. And I've got enough of them to keep me busy and broke. Stu

I feel your pain Stu!

I plan on being there Sunday and hope to see this truck rolling down the road to it's new home in IN! The truck will probably be happier there as I'm sure there are much less goofy government regulations and controls than here in IL and... I know the roads are better. You find that out as soon as you cross the state line.

I'm Home!

Welp, it's been a long, interesting day, but the '57 F-600 is now resting quietly in my dad's barn lot here in Indiana. My buddy and co-pilot Bob and I made it over to Bloominton/Normal, IL in 2 hours flat this afternoon. Rob A.K.A. Rojak and Jeff and Nicolle were already there waiting for us. Oddly enough, another guy named Joe saw the truck for sale while driving by and stopped to look at it at the same time we got there. He was on his phone and working out the logistics for getting it home while we were looking it over. Um, no. I don't think so, pal. I drove 110 miles to see this truck and I GOTS DIBS!!! I briefly contemplated the FTE entourage zip-tying his hands and stuffing him in the trunk of his car until the deal was done, but I think he got the hint on his own and bugged out. The owner was a nice guy and we chatted for quite awhile. His dad had bought the truck in 1972. Here's the crew:

That's Rob on the left, the owner, Ernie Rowley in the middle, Jeff right beside him, and my ugly mug on the right. Brother Bob got stuck as the cameraman and didn't make the pic. Sorry, Bob! One more of me with the truck right before we hit the road:

Rob gave us an escort out of town and we fueled up right before we hit the open road. A gen-u-ine hippie stopped me at the gas pump to check out the truck. He told us all about the beetchin' cherry 1934 Ford he bought for $400. The trip home was pretty uneventful. It drizzled all the way and we got a later start than I'd planned for, but with the wipers slapping back and forth reassuringly and a gentle, soothing fog drifting across the dashboard from the leaky heater core, it was a pretty cool trip. She seemed to be happiest around 50 MPH, so I let her roll about there. Even the other drivers got a kick out of seeing us motoring down the road! Every other car that passed around us honked and gave us a thumbs up - although they use a different finger over there. Must be an Illinois thing! We stopped again to check the truck and grab some food in Gibson City and guess what was sitting across the street from Mickey D's!

I bet today was the first time two '57 Fords were in Gibson City together in decades. It looked really solid from what I could see, but I didn't open it up or anything. The roof was slightly caved in, but most if not all of it would bump right back up. With the F-600, it would make a swell addition to my little fleet, but I've got bigger fish to fry at the moment. I'm not entirely sure it's for sale, but it was parked at a shop along highway 9 with two other trucks that were. I've got the contact info off the other two trucks if anybody wants to look into it.

Thanks again to Jeff for swinging over to say hi, Rob for hooking me up with the truck and giving us the escort, and my buddy Bob for tagging along and following me home! It was too dark for pics when we got back, but I'll get a few taken next week and tack them up.

Me too! Congratulations. It made so much more sense for somebody relatively local to get that truck. I'm happy you saved it from the scrapper. I am glad you got it home safe.
