well, it says i'm a senior user and i can't post a pic? What's up? I know this isn't the right place to ask really, but can someone tell me what's up? I sent a pm to admin and haven't heard back. I even created an album, but can't add a pic to a post.

Only supporters can post directly from their computers. You can however put pics in your GARAGE and post the "html" link in a thread, or post your pics to a host site like Photobucket, and insert the link in your post.

Forgot to mention that all the ads are GONE! Just another benefit to being a supporter!

ok, i'm trying photobucket. Here's my new to me, 5.4l 02 E350. In this pic, i was loaded up to go camping. Just got back from Fla. a day or two ago and we love it! Much more room than the reg length 460 we had.

Nice Van! You just posted a link though. You can actually post the picture right in the thread if you use the [img] tags from Photobucket.

You might want to read this: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...orum-post.html

It will show you how to post pics in your FTE gallery, and from there to the thread.

Ah, thx Fabman! I learn something everyday! I'm on at least 10 or so different hobby forums everyday but I usually stay away from posting pics because it seems like they make it so difficult, but I'm learnin'!

Guys, just want to say how well this little thread is going. As far as I have been able to find, this is THE ONLY thread that is 'show and tell' for the later generations.

Well impressed.

Van Diesel: so can you load up 2 bikes and gear behind the first bench and sleep up top in that van?

Roof rack

Thanks, It's my buddy's rack that i'm just about to give back but i've just about rounded up the parts for my own. His is a standard Yakima rain gutter setup with a Rola bolt on rack from Etrailer. Here's the link:
Rola Roof Basket Roof Cargo Carrier | etrailer.com

I love it, but i'm changing a thing or two. I just bought the same rain gutter mounts but i'm getting wider bars and putting two bike rails on the outsides of the rack. Instead of a rack in the middle, i just bought this:
SportRack Aero XL Cargo Box - Roof Mount - 18 Cubic Feet SportRack Roof Cargo Carrier A90275

I love the rack, but it never fails that if i load up to go camping, it's gonna rain. This box is about as big as the rack, and i can put all of my chairs, cots, tent, fans, lantern, etc. in it. It's amazing what these things will hold, and it will all be dry in there, and i'll just leave the box up there all the time, loaded and ready to go. It frees up a lot of space in the van.
I will be curious to see if my mpg changes, but so far before the rack, i got about 13.5 to 14 on the highway, with the rack empty, 13.5 to 14, and with the rack full, 13.5 to 14. Seeing a pattern here? That far back, i don't think it matters, but we'll see if i get a different result with a box instead of a rack.

I used to race enduros with a similar setup but no cap, with a standard length van you can put not 2 but 3 bikes (2 forward, 1 backwards in the middle) behind the first bench, i bet with the extended length you could almost put 2 benches in it and still have room for bikes. If you've got a bunk up above, i'm just all kinds of jealous, i spent a lot of nights at races on a cot behind my van!!!

I love the cap on that thing. Which engine and what kind of mpg do you get? I'm guessing diesel by your sig, and probably 7.3 since you still have pop-out rear windows. Love it, sweet ride!

I don't have any rear seats, but I have loaded two bikes behind the first row bench in my previous extended length Ford van. They'll fit, but the handlebars interfere with each other. With no seat, you can stagger one bike about 6 inches in front of the other, which makes it easier/quicker to load 2 bikes. Here's what 1 bike looks like behind the 1st row bench (factory location):

I'm not set up to sleep up top, but I'm thinking about building a sleeping platform. The top is 2ft high, so should there should be enough room to sleep.
