INCREASE MPG gas and diesel
I drive a 92 sundance to work and back - its gotta 2.2L 4 banger (Big power!!!) regularly get 30MPG. It was the wifes car when I got married and she stole my 02 chevy (also gets 30MPG but much nicer to drive!!) - saves me at least $20 or more in gas a week and alot miles on my 03' Superduty V10. Also saves wear and tear from only driving 15 minutes to work and back when its below zero. Gives the truck alot of garage time.
This is how I increased my MPG; Any of you other guys/gals drive somthing other than your fuel guzzeler for your daily driver. Just wondering what kinda recs everybody else drives to save wear on your $30K truck.
for got to add the wife bought the sundance 5 years and 40K miles ago (it's now at 130k+ miles)- no problems so far and she only paid $2k for it. probably some of the best money spent. I'll drive it untill it dies, sell it for scrap metal and probably buy another junker to use as a daily driver.

I have often considered buying another car rather than drive my truck everywhere for mileage/wear issues. However, I don't like having two cars in the driveway. I bought an old Mercedes that got better mileage, but it used premium fuel and kept breaking down. I lost my butt selling that thing (I lost so much I could have bought a year's worth of fuel--it was a losing propositiont to keep and maintain that car to save money). I'll just stick to driving the truck and occasionally a motorcycle when weather permits. Besides, my colleagues like it when I wear my leather chaps to work.
My fuel expenses aren't that great, in the grand scheme of things.

Reasons to drive, not get great mileage, and love it IMO:
- Sit up high and watch everyone else step on their brake while you cruise to a halt because you saw the accident.
- Brag to your buddies that your fillup cost $85 and watch their jaw drop to the ground.
- If you don't like the worse mileage, why did you buy it in the first place, were you surprised when you filled up?
I don't need no stinkin' great fuel mileage truck, but it would be cool to get 20mpg someday and still enjoy the above.

I purchaced my truck to use as a truck and not as a car, to all ther own but since I already owned the car It works out great. Besides that why wear out a $30k truck in three years just driving to work and back and to the grocery store for milk.
I knew exactly what I was going to get for fuel mileage before I ever steped foot in it. Actually I was expecting more around 10mpg but seem to average 12-13mpg. It also save me at leats 3 hours a week from cleaning my truck. Also saves greatly on driving on those damn salted roads, wish they'd just use sand (also not good on paint but chips are better than rust).
And best part of it: in a few years when I go to update, the pickup will be worth every penny of that $2k car more since it'll still be fairly low mileage and not show everyday wear and tear.
To all there own, just curious what others are driving - the fuel savings are actually only a fraction of why I drive my crap box to work and back.

Oh, I don't want everybody to get the wrong impression - I love driving my truck and just hate to wear it out going to work. I kinda gives me something to look forword to if I haven't driven it in a few days.
I also figured after reading the "How many miles" Thread; nobody seems to have many miles on their trucks and you've gotta be driving somthing else inorder to own a 2000 with 25,000 miles on it (just an example). seemed to be an awfull lot with very few miles on them.
