Good luck on the big job scoops. When they pop up it seems like they go for big bucks.

I ran across one on an old truck earlier this year. I was in some small town in west Texas and couldn't find the property owner to ask him if I could buy the hood or the scoop.

Welcome to the board
Bobby

Oh man I wish you hadn't posted this. I'm gonna be looking for one of those forever for my '59, I'd love to have a functional FACTORY scoop!

Does anyone have any pics of one mounted(any year) found a couple online but they were hard to see, couldn't find any of the bottom of the hood where it matches up the the air filter.

hood scoop

If you happen to have a 56 maintance manual, there are some nice photos
of it and the controls. And I also notice that Thunderbird scoops look
real close to the truck ones. All my trucks have the later style 57 & up.

Woowee that's 'spensive!.. but I gotta admit.. they're darn cool. I've never seen one until the Working Vehicles Only thread and seeing the black and white pics of them.

I'd love to see one on a F100... I'm just sayin..

Well, you get what you pay for!!

This is the free market at it's best!

They would probably go for a LOT of money on EBAY!!
They'll only sell for what someone who wants it it bad enough, will pay!!

If I wanted one for my 55 F-600, for that kind of money...... I think I would just make one.

Since the F-600 didn't come with one stock......I guess I won't bother!

Cheers,

Rick

1956 F100 hood scoop

The factory hood scoop and the lower air vent tube under the hood on my F-100 as they would in 1956 in the correct location if you would haved special ordered one back then, but only the 1956 year truck models would have them of this style, and no they don't look like a t-bird hood scoop. The chrome grill is very different, and the t-birds scoop is moulded to the hood. Now after doing a lot of research on this matter, in order to make it factory correct for your truck you would have to have a special D.S.O. number on your vin data I.D. plate as I have, otherwise it wouldn't be factory or dealership correct. The D.S.O. numbers for 1956 would be something like this, XX-XXX or XX-XXXX, two digits then either 3 or four more digits. The first group of two digits is for area location of order and the next group is the Ford dealers invoice number for the special order equipment request. Also these hood scoops came standard on all "Big Job" trucks of 1956 when ordered with a 4 barrel carb. Another fact is that 1957 trucks also had a hood scoop, but looked a lot different and bolder.....Enjoy the Pic.....Stan from California.....Click on my name flashback-n-time to view pics in album....Enjoy....
