I wonder if he changed his rear axle gears? Wouldn't 182 on stock gears rev the engine out of it's powerband? I need to do the math on that...

Just a bit.
I'm too lazy at the moment to do a proper calculation, but at 70 MPH I was doing ~2,000 RPMs. Meaning I'd be turning 4,000 RPMs in 6th gear at 140. And 5,000 RPMs at 175. This was with 3.55s, but 3.31s wouldn't be much different.
You'd want ~1.80 gears with the stock transmission if the engine retained the stock powerband.
The limiting factor for the 6.7L engine is the turbo, as it's not capable of the 41 PSI the 6.4L system is capable of. With a larger turbo and upgraded fuel system I'm willing to bet that they were being conservative with only 600 HP.
Actually I know of at least 2 buddy's that hit 60 ish on stock trucks, with spartan tuners.
Not saying it would eat that all day long, but it is possible.
Mine with factory tuning, last winter, if was taken on a few to many short trips without being plugged in, and it sat at 40 PSI until it warmed up enough to go into regen. Then it dropped down to normal.

But your truck isn't a 6.7L, and that was what I was referring to. This is the 6.7L forum after all.

Sorry, thats the quote I was originally commenting on.
Sometimes things make sense in my head, even though I might sound like a babbling fool.
Putting that turbo on the 6.7's has probably saved ford so much warranty costs lol. With it, power is limited to what the engine seems to hold well, upgrading the turbocharger makes it obvious and easy for them to deny warranty.

Haha...you said it, not me.

I don't think that's why they did it. Larger turbo setups take longer to spool, and therefore they don't drive as nice. They could meet their power and emissions goals without a system the goes to 41 PSI, so there was just no reason to. Heck, even with the stock turbo there are tuners out there making impressive power gains. Not quite 6.4L gains though.
