48-52 Ford truck bumpers will bolt up exactly as original. Beyond that, it'll be anything you can fab up brackets for to make work. It all depends on what you want your truck to look like.
There's enough of these trucks around, I'm sure you can find a good, usable bumper around. They straighten fairly easily if you have access to a press, unless it's a pretzel.
Pipes U Pullit in North Shreveport has a 55 dumptruck I will check it. As for trucks being around here there are none. I looked for a year before I found the one I got. The car clubs are buying all the can get their hands on around here.
I have an original front bumper from a f2 f3 available, its the smooth one. if you cant find one close by, located in Utah. let me know if you need it.
I used a bumper from a bigger F-4/F-6 truck on my F-2. I did this for two reasons, one I had a couple laying around and two, I liked the beefier look on the truck. The original, which wasn't on the truck, I thought looked a little wimpy. The larger bumpers sometimes are easier to find in the junkyard or on parts trucks.
Okay, I will look and see what Pipes has. The weather here is just not letting me do much yet. 112 yesterday. I can't wait for fall so I can get something done.

Here I think it only got up to 106. Still to hot to work on the truck... I have to wait until after Halloween to work when the temperature goes down...
Halloween! Heck, by then we could have temps in the 30s and a couple of inches of snow! Then it's too cold for us to work on our trucks. Is there a happy medium temperate location in this country we could comfortably work on our trucks years round, or at least 75% of the time? Up here we're either freezing our butts off for 5 months or cooking with mosquitoes the size of humming birds that can drain you of a quart of blood in 5 minutes for 5 months. If we're lucky we'll have 2 months of decent weather.
Are there any junkyard cars/trucks that the bumper will fit the front of my truck?
I can't afford the new nice chromed ones.
As original, the bumper is painted, not chrome. Ford didn't offer a chrome front bumper for F Series trucks until 1957.
Carpenter's 1948/56 truck repro parts (2011 printed) catalog, on page 82...lists a 'cold rolled steel' 7C-17750-A front bumper for $150.00 and a polished stainless steel front bumper for $525.00.
7C-17750-A (replaced 7C-17750) .. Front Bumper / Applications: 1948/50 F1/F2/F3.
1951: Ford replaced 7C-17750-A with 1C-17750-A. The 1948/56 Ford Truck Parts Catalog lists the applications of 1C-17750-A as 1948/52 F1/F2/F3.
