We did not care for the air cleaner that the PO had installed....
My brother has a friend that happened to have an original Oil bath filter that we thought would be cool to use instead...
It says "front on it and is pointed that wayb in the pic above. It does not fit well this way but will fit well when rotated with "front" facing the drivers fender as shown in the next picture.
Can anyone verify if this air cleaner is correct?
Also, it appears in the shop manual that there is a tapered gasket that is supposed to be between the carb and air cleaner. If I am seeing this correctly, can anyone tell me if these are available.

I don't know if the air cleaner is correct or not (sure looks better than the old one!) But your right, there's usually a gasket between the carb and filter. I got one in a carb kit once, but out of the 3 kits I'd bought, only one had it. Probably wouldn't be too hard to make one, or a big rubber o-ring from the hardware store would probably do the job.
