Smile 08 F-250 Brake Controller Issue.

My 08 F-250 w/factory brake controll will not engage(stop) my trailer, fuses are good,will register on controll(shows what number I have it set on) what can I do next or any other idea before I take it in at a tune of $500-$700?

Do not take it anywhere and do not replace anything - yet. First, with the trailer hitched and your seven pin diconnected at the truck so you do not back feed the controller, try to move the trailer. The brakes should be locked using the trailer battery for power. Are they? If they are, you know the trailer brakes are good and we can move to the truck.

Yeah that sounds like a trailer brake issue to me. If the controller shows green in the display.

Did you mean to have him pull the break away switch? Cause you didn't say that and I don't see why the trailer brakes would lock up otherwise.

Man, you're 100% right. I do this stuff so much I run on auto pilot. Thanks. Yes, by all means pull the pin on the break-away switch with the seven pin disconnected to isolate the trailer brakes first.

my controller was acting up and I unplugged the rear plug from the wiring harness and cleaned all the contacts and its been fine ever since.
