Reupholstered Seat in my 55

Here's a pic of what used to be a black/gray cloth GMC seat. I was very pleased with the outcome.

That looks good my friend. Do you have pics of it from the passenger side toward the driver?

Very nice. It really looks a lot better than your original upholstery.
I wouldn't have thought it would have made such a difference, very nice.

Here is the original so others don't have to search, although I would suggest checking out the other pics. Sweet ride.

Nice color match, looks like it could have come with the truck.

Looks good dude I like the color

Just a sidenote for anyone considering these kinds of seats in their trucks, you want to get the cheaper chevy truck seats and not the one that he had. Its not that those cant be covered but thay are harder to cover. Its alot easier to cover the cheaper seats than the silverado "molded" type seats. You can tell them easily by that type of material that that one has and they came in mostly 4 colors gray, maroon, dk blue, and tan. But they all had that style and pattern to them and were glued down tightley to the foam, whereas the cheaper seats are just covers on top of the foam and the vinyl looks alot like tree bark in those years. Just a little heads up when lookin for a seat to recover. They are fine seats but lots of trim shops hate to work on them cause of the foam work that has to be done to level them up.

Steve again beautiful job. I like seats and AC related topics. TO tag onto what Terry said. I used to work in a junkyard. The seat Terry is referring to is called a WT seat. Mainly because they are a low seat commonly found in Chevy/GMC base model work truck. expect the vinyl to be torn more often than not. Just thought I add that little info so if anyone looks for one in a salvage yard they can cut to the chase so to speak. Thanks

Hey Steve,
Nice looking seat - I've been really struggling with the drink holder question - You look to have a pretty straight forward solution there.
Where did you get your little holder from? Does it just sit on the seat?

I'm using an S10 seat - looks very similar to what you have there.

Thanks Ben. I got the console/cup holder on E-Bay however Mid-Fifties and Macs also sell them. It is secured by a long strap that goes under the set and back up to a clip. Works great and sure beats having to shift gears while holding a coffee or soda! Steve

Steve you mean you didnt like the shifter - drink cup dance? Ha ha. Cup holder is as handy as a pocket on a shirt.

Naw...I'm a terrible dancer! LOL! The coffee always found a way on my shirt as I was driving to work...my coworkers could instantly tell which days I was driving the truck.
