My 1975 F150 Project

I am in the process of resto-modding my Father in laws old truck. He bought it new in 1975 and they have owned it for 37 years. He died in 1986.

I am in the process of tearing her down and rebuilding her.

This is what I started with. A 1975 F150 Custom Explorer 2WD with a 390FE and C6 Tranny. Options are a dealer installed A/C.

The first thing I did was to remove the old box. Which was shot. The floor was rusted and the sides are rusted out above the wheels and corners.

Then I removed the tank and cleaned and painted the rear half of the frame with POR15. I also removed the 9" and springs.

I had the springs sandblasted and I painted them. I cleaned the rear end, replaced the bearings in the axles and bought a new 3.73 Traction Lock from Bronco Connection, replacing the 3.00 open that was in the truck.

I also installed Energy Suspension Bushings, a set of lowering shackles, and KYB Shocks. New brake lines, and rebuilt the rear brakes.

I sure hope your wife is proud of what you are doing there. Admirable taking your father inlaws old picup and restoring it. Great work.
