When I was scamming my set of GT40Ps of a Mountaineer, I noticed the coolant routing. I really liked it, so I tried them out on my new build. They fit and cleaned up the appearance a little.
I moved the OEM temp sensor to the intake tube. The water pump side hoses were something that I had lying around. I did have to do a little bending to make things fit better. The lower water pump side tube got bent down and the heater core side got bent and angle away from the firewall.
I'm not to confident in those pinch clamps, but if they don't leak, I won't change them out.
The major modification came to the alternator bracket. I'm not sure if the bracket was right to the truck but I've been using it for six years. it got cut trimmed and welded on to get around those tubes
I also had these heads on my truck forthree years:
This is an older picture about the time I found them in the junk yard, bolted to a mid nineties f150. They have a ford part number. Not sure what they were for other than assuming they where some sort of mustang deal. Anyone know what they are?
A little research gets that GT40Ps don't play well with headers. So these got modified. I had to move tubes for six and eight. I'll post pics of what I did shortly.
These are only temporary till my fender well exit headers are ready.
I like the coolant pipe. Did the Mountaineer donate that as well? As far as the clamps go, they are designed to be self tightening, as long as the were not damaged or over sprung when they were removed, they will be fine.
Yes, Clamps and everything came off as well, taking off the heads game me the surprize of a blown up piston on the mountaineer. I did have and issue removing the original temp sensor from the intake tube. I bent the tube with a wrench trying to extract that sensor, only because I had it on the bench. once attached to the manifold, I had no issues. (had to tweak it back)
