M5OD STUCK IN GEAR
I REMOVED MY M5OD OUT OF MY 1994 FORD F150 4X4 AND REPLACED THE CLUTCH/PRESSURE PLATE/HYD THROWOUT BRGS/PILOT BUSHING. DURING REMOVAL THE TRANNY SLIPPED INTO GEAR OR WAS LEFT IN GEAR JUST BEFORE IT WAS REMOVED. I NEED THE TRANS TO BE IN NEUTRAL IN ORDER FOR THE INPUT SHAFT TO BE FREE DURING THE INSTALLATION.
DOES ANYONE HAVE A METHOD TO GET IT IN NEUTRAL WITHOUT THE HYDRAULICS CONNECTED

The trans can be shifted without it being installed back into the truck, just move the shifter until its in neutral, or if you have the shifter off the trans you can move the small stub shaft until you get it in neutral.
You can also install the trans while its in gear, we do it all the time.

The tranny is out and it appears to be stuck in first gear. I placed the shifter on it to get it out of gear and it would not move. If it should go right into neutral without having he hydraulics then maybe I put the shifter in the slot off center or something. I will go back and see if this is the problem. Thanks for your advise.

Yes, out of the vehicle it should shift fairly easily, as both the input and output shafts are unloaded and can rotate on their own if needed.
Check the shifter and forks, I think you'll find the answer.
As per prior post, even if it is in gear, since the output isn't loaded or locked by the drive shaft and diff, the trans input shaft should rotate to match the clutch disc.
