302 push rod questions

Im rebuilding a 76 F100 right now. It has the original 5.0 engine in it. Ive pulled the engine and fully dissembled it. Next the block was bored 30 over. I am now assembling the engine. Crank, pistons, cam are all in.... my question is..... i had the heads fully disassembled at the machine shop and everything cleaned. I then installed all new springs retainers and what not from Lunati. And i also replaced the cam with a non roller flat tappet, lunati bracket master 2 cam and also lunati lifters...... im at the point to install my heads and im stuck at what pushrods to put in the motor....so how can i measure what pushrods to put back in....any help is very appreciated...... thanks

The stock ones should work unless you milled the heads and block pretty good. Even then they'd probably still work as long as you kept the stud mounted rockers. With beefier springs it might be cheap insurance to get some hardened pushrods.

Did you have the heads machined for screw-in studs and guideplates? You don't want to go too crazy with valve spring pressure or valve lift with rail rockers.

To measure you'd need an adjustable pushrod, a solid lifter, and a checker spring for the valve. Prussian blue on the valve tip makes it easier to see what's happening. Install like the stock set up and rotate crank a few times. The goal is to get the smallest amount of rocker arm travel across the valve tip.

The cam lift is low enough to run stock springs and what not i just went ahead and upgraded the springs. The block was only bored and washed. It is not set up for guide plates. Like i said everything is completely stock just changing the internals

Stock length and diameter should be fine.
