Unknown Spring from under the dash.

So i was driving today. Actually I had just pushed the clutch in and I had part of a spring fall out from under the dash and hit my foot. Then a few minutes later the other part fell out and hit my foot. I have a 82 - F100 with 3 + OD on the floor. This looks like a coil over spring that looks like it fits between two brackets to keep it from coming together. It is yellow in color and has plastic fittings on each end like bushings. I have no idea where this came from or what it goes to. The truck is a little harder to get into gear now but still shifts ok. What could this be.

Is it the little short spring in this picture?

If so, that looks like the spring that makes the pedal return to the upward position. It sort of rocks over this spring.

The other part that fell down, was it a plastic bushing?

Is it 7534 in this picture?

Yes it was. Where did you find those diagrams. Those would be great to have access to. Is that something I can find online somewhere?

My picture link doesn't seem to work, but it's very close to the same as above and it's located at Autozone's site. Just register, plug in your truck, and click on vehicle repair guides. I believe I found it under brakes, brake pedal removal.
