Transgo Tugger Opinions

Hey all,

I'm getting ready to do a drivetrain service and was considering putting in a Transgo Tugger shift kit, since I mainly use my truck to pull my toy hauler.

Anyone have/use one? Experiences, good or bad? If I'm running a 5Star tow tune am I going to have to have the tune redone?

BTW, it's a 2000 SD CC 4X4 with a 4R100 trans.

Thanks all!!!

I know some have used the transgo tuggers and say they are good kits, what about just swapping the entire valve body like John Woods, Riffraff Diesel: John Wood 4R100 Valve Body or Brians Truck Shop. I believe both will credit you the valve body if you come back to them for the trans later.

The Tugger is a great kit. I put one in my wife's 01 and it firmed up the shifts quite nice. You'll have to call 5 star and see how much they've bumped up the line pressure to see if they will need to reburn anything. The HD Tugger gives you an option of 3 different sizes to drill some holes that affects how firm the shift is. Maybe 5 star will have an opinion on which size to drill the plate.

The tune will have to be changed. Depending on how picky you are it could take quite a bit of trial and error to get things dialed in. I had the factory tech accumulator on my truck. Basically Factory Techs similar version of the tugger kit but installed in an accumulator already. I removed it and went back to tunng only.

So if I'm already running a tuner, is there an advantage to installing the kit?
