what are these spare under hood wires for?

They're just that. Spare. The other ends are under the dash somewhere. Ford put them there to make it easier to run aftermarket products. Instead of running wires through the firewall you can splice into these.

kool... guess someday if im feeling flexible ill go hunting for them. keep tinkering with this thing one day at a time.

The other end should be tucked up near the e-brake pedal. IIRC, they're 14 awg wires, so they're good for around 15 amps each.

sweet! more than perfect to use for the switch legs for relays that sometime ill get around to installing for the work lights and crap im putting on the beast.

Thats awesome! I thought they were for some gasoline engine options that my diesel didn't have. Ford should have put a tag on them labeled 'extra wires, other end under dash'. lol

On my 06, the other end of the wires are behind the fuse box. If you have the upfitter switches, the wires are right by each other by the fuse box. It is my thought; Ford put them in for use with the switches, if needed.

yea i got a 03 truck... no upfitter switches, just my own stink on upfitters lol.

hopefuly soon i get enough posts to make a sig so people know what i got.
