Turbo 4.6 on 5 psi of boost
#18
Hey guys,
I have had a nice quality turbocharger laying around, it is a little big, but will do. My goal at first is to run 5 psi of boost just to get the truck up and running. I am guessing that will yield about 50 hp. My question is, will the stock fuel system, injectors and pump, allow me to run 5 psi of boost of will I have issues. I just planned on getting and adjustable FPR since it is such low boost levels, until I got a tune.
Thanks

an fmu from vortech on stock injectors will work to a point but you need to have the truck drop out of closed loop or your ecm is gunna shorten the injector pulses intell it see's what it wants via the O2 sensors, no matter how high the fmu raises fuel rail preassure.
-diasabled closed loop means poor gas mileage.
- remeber that you can only raise fp so much before the injectors will jam open
-be prepared to up the octane cause you wont be able to play with retarding timing to compensate for heat genrated by boost enless it is intercooled then well your good to go
-of course these cut corners can be fixed with a tunner and injectors (why spend the monye on fmu? just get the injectors) which is what i think is what every one here is trying to say...
-when the time comes when your hungry for more psi you'll be one step ahead of the game meanning saved $$$, wether it be maf/feul pump/fpr 1:1boost ref.
- the end result is fmu's are usually the first to go cuase by this time you have a tunner and datalogging capabilities with a guy writting you tunes... the first thing they want to go when the logs show trouble is the fmu ... so why buy it?
-a word of caution i'am not sure if you feul pump will be able to flow enough to genrate enough fp that the fmu requires.
any ones welcome to chime in and correct, (blurry?) etc... I had these qeustions to a quick entry kit..
