Transmission cooler ? Hayden VS True Cool

Hey Guys i have a 1995 f150 with a 5.8 and an E4OD. The truck is stock for now but im planning on using it for a welding truck/ tow rig to pull my jeep or motorcycles around. I am in the middle of swaping out the tranny because the rear planitaries went out. I want to put a bigger tranny cooler in and im looking at the Hayden 516 or the True Cool (not sure model number) both are rated for Class A motorhomes pulling upto 10k LBS but im not sure which one would be the better selection. The hayden i can get for 60 the True Cool is $91. The reason im looking at these guys is because they are in stock and i can pick up right now.

A transmission cooler is a transmission cooler.... some have better fittings than others.

The Tru Cool must be a LPD.

I have a Torq-Flo Super Cool for class A motorhomes towing up to 10k lbs me to on my class C motorhome. It's 11"x11"x3/4" thick, and even that ain't that big.

As long as it's a stacked plate design, any will do!

The 95 F 250 stock unit was closer to the 35- 40K lb units sold today by those company's.

Are you sure about that? They don't look very big, I've notice the ones on mid 90's U-Haul trucks and don't look that big. They are thick tho.

10.5 X 7.5 X 2 inch 32 plate with expanded fins . I remember the area of it was over 157 N change. I spent a month looking for one that was equal to it. B&M had one for 200.00 but was too much for my blood. Ford had them for 130.00 IIRC. I put a older F350 unit on it out of L wards truck and its 1/3 the size... Pic looked the same so I took it @#%^$ Doh. 250-HD think mine was a cab and chassis also. I dont know if this changes what was on the other 250's from 95. Think wards was a 92, as I said way smaller?.!

yours is 90.75 so not twice as big but 90.75/ 157.5

For the record I don't think it really matters.... Just posted for facts, due to my search, for a replacement of the bleeder. My garage floor thanked me don't think the truck cares...

I have a 92 E4OD, any idea how good the stock transmission cooler is? I know it has one, but I'm sort of mystified as to how exactly it works and how well

I'm clueless. I plan to add a new finned pan with a bung for a sensor/temp gauge in cab. Under 195 Im happy ... Till I do I have no idea how well the stock set up in my truck works.

Yeah, i'm sort of wondering....I'm assuming it sort of needs cooling if they threw one on at the factory. but it seems that it's pretty small, so idk...

My C6 F150 doesn't even have a cooler! I am looking for one though.

I don't tow anything with it now... but I will soon, but even if I wasn't, it's added insurance since I do plan on keeping this truck a very long time since it's still in top shape and super low mileage.

Yeah, I tow some, so i'm wondering if I need to supplement what is there already, or just leave well enough alone. I'm considering an oil cooler more so than a tranny cooler...

What ever you do, DO NOT add a 2nd tranny cooler if you already have one. It will drop the pressure to much.

If you feel the need for better cooling, just upgrade to a bigger one but don't add a 2nd.

Well, I'm not understanding this very well, but I think that every truck with an auto made after 92 has a tranny cooler that is part of the radiator(?) I think. the replacement radiators that LMC truck sells make this note and seem to indicate that it's integral to the radiator. So...does it even count?

All auto tranny trucks have that cooler, it's a water cooled cooler, but not good enough, so it's a real good idea to add a 2nd one, but what I wanted to say was not adding 2 Aux. coolers, so in total you'd have 3 and that's to much.

Sorry for the miss understanding there.

Yeah, so that's where my confusion was originating from. So the general consensus is that the stock cooler doesn't do much, and that it wouldn't hurt anything to add an aux cooler, correct?
