Flushed coolant 3 times and still looks like iceT

I flused once with hose water and it stopped looking green, then twice with distilled water. Now when it drains it looks like ice T,maybe alittle more orange than brown.Should I use a flush chemical, more distillled water?Any advice is appreciated. John

How long did you flush with the hose?

What kind of coolant are you planning on refilling your E99 with after the flush? Hopefully not ELC.

Prestone make a great flush for the coolant system. Its a super flush for neglected cooling systens. In its directions it says to fill with water add additive drive frive for 3-6 hours or a doy or two then drain. I would recomd adding 2 bottles of the super flush drive it then drain system. Hopefully this will help. I'm with Steward don't refill with ELC unless its coming out clear.

Actually, it's because he has an early '99, which ELC is not recommended to be used in.

I concur Steward about using the ELC. I have a 2000 model year and I did the coolant flush over this past weekend I made the decision to put green coolant back in my system and add the SCA from Ford. It was $7.00 from Ford.

It's safe to use a HD ELC in your 2000 model year truck. From late '99's and up it's recommended by International that a Heavy Duty Organic Acid Technology Extended Life Coolant be used.

I didn't mean to botch your name Stewart. It was a typo on my phone my apologies brother. I main chioce for refilling with the green coolant was my wallet wouldn't let me change over. Lol. But it had to get done so I did this for now. I'm also glad I could give ya'll a chuckle at my exspense.

The easy way to flush it is pull the heater hoses off and drop the lower rad hose then flush it through both sides of the heater hoses and it should come out clean!

An easier way to flush well is to buy a Prestone or like brand flush and fill kit, put the "T" in a heater hose and run/flush until the water is completely clear, THEN MAY BE add some flush chemical & run as directed, then flush again with garden hose pressure, I do it to all my vehicles (used) when I get them, then service the cooling system with all new hoses, TStat and cap and I'm good to go!

I just had to replace injector cups- diesel in coolant. I took off radiator hoses and flushed radiator. Then pulled t-stat and flushed engine. Worked pretty well. i just ran garden hose through both for 5 min. Then I filled up with plain water and ran it up to temp and drained and refilled. I have done this several times now and it gets better each time. A word of caution doing this - I am having to replace water pump- I think it was already on its way out, but straight water is not as lubricating as coolant mix. Hope this helps.

I cut the center out of the old t-stat then re-installed with gasket. You don't have to wait for it to open. Easier re-fill and full circulation on start up.

To the Original Poster: Did you remove the block plugs when draining cooling system? Bottom of block cooling passages won't drain without removing the block plugs.
