Unplug the EGR Valve ?
I have been reading a lot about unplugging the egr valve to prevent soot build up, so I unplugged my egr valve, got a old egr valve from my local mechanic and plugged that one in the harness and laid on top the engine, so far no codes and runs fine. This test proves to me I can do a delete without any extra programming.

How would this effect my egr cooler by having it dead headed it all the time?
Would this cause the cooler to fail sooner?

The reason I have not deleted the egr system yet, is because I bought the extended warranty. Come to find out about the wonderful warranty I purchased for $2500 covers the oil cooler but not the egr cooler, but if the oil cooler causes the egr cooler to fail they would replace egr cooler under warranty

My truck is an 2005 with 121K miles the only mod I have done is cat delete and edge cts. Still running off the original oil cooler and egr cooler. My delta runs at 11* F
Knock on wood – this truck has yet to go in the shop for any repairs, but I know its coming. Thanks

EGR cooler failures usually are the result of an oil cooler plugging and restricting coolant. Unplugging the EGR valve IMHO gains you nothing but more heat in the cooler by dead heading the exhaust. Plug the valve back in and maintain it properly and the truck will be fine the way it's built.
