Ex owners, do you have a pickup also?

I'm looking at another Excursion this afternoon. I thought I had one bought a few weeks ago but it fell through. Well while I thought I had it I had to haul something which made me wish I had a truck. So now that I'm shopping again, I'm trying to decide on either a super duty truck or an Excursion.

So how many of you still own a pickup of any size for hauling stuff like trash, car parts, furniture etc..?

No spare truck but I have a 4x8 folding utility trailer, with sides. It'll will handle up to 1200 lbs. so it fills in for hauling tall, dirty or unweildy items. Costs between $250 to $400 for on like mine. I love it and don't miss the truck bed...since it can only be used as a truck bed.

I do have a 5x14 trailer that I get a lot of use out of but for simple things like gas cans or trash it seems like it would be a PITA. I remember making due with my Explorer years ago and liking the vehicle a lot though.

We have his and her's. I ride a SuperDuty and she's got the Excursion for the family hauling. Both have their purposes. The only rig I've ever owned that wasnt a pickup was my expedition which we traded in for the excursion. I like not having to hook up a trailer for trash runs, gravel, lumber etc...

no need for a pick-up just toss it up in the way back ... i have hualled wood , trash,a motorcycle, all you need is a big blue tarp and the back stays clean ( dirt bike in back .. street bike on a hitch hauler ")

This is ideal but "she" doesn't want to get rid of her Jeep.

I have a 5x10 utility trailer with a 3500lb capacity and slide out ramps. Much lower to the ground but the main use is coal and firewood hauler.

I use to own a pick-up but everybody wanted to borrow it!

The funny thing is ever since I got rid of the pick-up and picked up the trailer nobody wants to borrow the trailer!

I just use my Excursion like a pickup. I have to go unload some 2x10x10' out of the back right now.

(Also have a 7x16 cargo trailer to haul bigger stuff.)

I still have my 99 F150 Lariat.

It's good to have something to throw crap in and haul to the dump, or whatever. Hardest part is taking off the tonneau cover......

The bad part is although it's 2 years older than the Ex, it costs more to register. %^&*@# commercial plates.....

It's way cheaper to have a small trailer than
to own another vehicle.
insurance is like $45/year for the trailer!
We have 6x8 ft PJ Utility w/2' wire side ($1500)
and it's great for hauling things with our Jeep in CO.
Here's a pic of our Jeep & trailer @ work.

You could also consider a hitch-mounted carry-all
they run about $100 @ Northern Tool & most auto places. If you have < 500 lbs to put in.

No truck... but I have 5x8 utility trailer with a 3500lb axle to haul whatever I would put in a truck bed.....also a dual axle 7x14 enclosed trailer (never buy one of these....get a 16ft minimum !)

don't need no steekin' peekup !!!!

5x10 utility trailer, hitch-a-haul, AND old carpet/tarps to through in the back if I don't feel like riding the mower back to the out building to get the trailer up front....

Dont need a pickup here...Went to Tampa a few weeks ago to pick up a 36" engineering plotter. Turned the plotter on the side and slid it into the back of the Ex. Went down there in the rain and everything came back dry in the EX. Love the beast.

On another note, I also have a 16 ft open trailer and if it is too big for the Ex and needs to be covered, I hook up to the 24 ft enclosed trailer.

I bought my daughter a 94 Ranger which I get to use. I like it - 5 spd, 2wd and the 2.3 - slow and steady! But - she gets to learn to drive stick and I get another toy.
