Just from WA. It was tough on the old girl, had 4-5 ton on board. Blown cooling hose, fuel return line leak, three blowouts(because of the weight I think) and fried the old c6 5 km from the destination. It was acting up for the last 2000km to be fair on it.
Don't own Patrols anymore, so I'm not offended The original exhaust on 7.3 V8's sound more like a whistling fart
Hopefully some changes will improve the whole deal
Been a while since I've been on here ("faecesbook" seems to have killed forums) Fitted a turbo style muffler to my ex ambo a while back along with the "safe tow" tune. Now sounds like a V8 Scania down the highway
Did a bit of a trip with the van over the Christmas break. The factory settings, don't really cut the mustard while towing 3 ton. Talbingo mountain was a bit of an effort. I've got a Superchips 1705 tuner but there's no power to make it work. Out of the 2 ciggy lighters on the dash, one works & the other doesn't, which would probably be power to the OBII port. Once away from the real big hills, we cruised fairly well.
Since then a new exhaust, put power to the second ciggy lighter which powered up the OBII port allowing the MAX micro tuner to power up, hence dialed in "safe tow tune" & new tyres (proper size) have made a difference!
