HELP 2001 4.5 Air Conditioner

Moving cross country. Wife is driving my F-150 and the AC cuts out about 15 minutes into the drive. It may or may not come back on. Getting check engine light code cylinder D. Clear that out and AC again works for 15 minutes. Told I have a vacuum leak. Have the dash apart looking. In Dallas so I need help fast.

I habe been advised that a vacuum leak will cause this error. Driving it is not an option because it is to hot. Anybody with actual helpful advise?

I habe been advised that a vacuum leak will cause this error.
You were probably advised wrong. A misfire on cylinder 4 ("D") will not cause an A/C fault nor will a vacuum leak cause either of your symptoms.

Most likely, the intermittent AC is due to a worn clutch, see HVAC FAQs.

The misfire is probably a COP/plug.
