Any other make 1948-1952 truck boxes work on F1

Hii Guys, After hunting high and low for a box for the 48.. I wanted to ask if any other make truck boxes would work on my F1 ?.. A friend of mine hes dad has a 1950 Chevy that came with two boxes.. He said he didnt need the other one and if it would work we could make a deal.. I just wanted to asked.. I didnt know if the chevy box was made around the same shape as the F1..
Best,
Cody

P.S if anyone knows or has a F1 box for sale plz send me a PM...

I doubt the Chevy box will fit without major reworking. I think the Chevy box is shallower than the Ford of the same vintage.

I saw a 50 F-1 a few years ago with a Chevy box on it. I didn't even realize it at first since he had used 51/52 Ford rear fenders and no tailgate. I didn't ask about how he went about fitting it but it can't be that hard...

Another option is Ford 42-50 used the same box. Fenders changed in 48 but the box is the same - at least it widens your search.

Also the '53-'72 box will work if you use 51-52 fenders, but the fender bolts won't line up.......you would have to redrill them. I was going to use a '55 box on my truck, then I found a correct one.

Cody, while you are searching for a bed don't forget sometimes you can buy the entire truck cheaper than a part. I've seen some a truck sell for $200.00. Also on craigslist and newspapers check the trailers section, as many used the older beds and fenders to make trailers and they show up every now and then. chuck

Mine was so rusted, dented and full of holes that I got a new one from Mar-K. It hurt to spend the money but it's straight.

He lists a new steel bed in the ad. I wonder if he has the old bed...??? Maybe worth a shot to call and ask.
