i was diagnosing my '99 7.3 this morning looking for a missing cylinder. and in neutral or park, when i step on the gas (even slightly) the revs go up to about 1350. so to get in between idle and 1350
i was holding the brake while it was in gear to keep the engine at about 1100. doing this for probably 20-30 second reving between 1000 and 1500. then i caught a whiff of burnt something, i think i got the torque converter hot stalling it for too long. oh well its bad anyway, but i just want to make sure i didnt burn something "important"...... does anybody think it could be anything else?
