Chasis swap from 2x4 to 4x4?

I am looking for a solid 4x4 Xcab chassis for a 1999 2wd swap. I love my truck but i just wish i had 4x4. Any input from anyone on this idea would be great. Just trying not to break the bank or waste the new tranny I just put in. I'm not to literate with transmissions so I'm not even sure if I can use my current one if i got the chance. Just need to learn a bit before going for it.

not sure if you can change the tail-shaft on the 4r100.
Other than that, you just need the suspension parts, t-case and drive shafts and shifter stuff.

Prolly need the steering arm for the front axle also.
I cannot think of much else you would need for the swap.

as for suspension, I'm going on memory that the 250 SD's had coil fronts, I could be wrong there.

They did have coils. So are you saying it would be possible to just swap out all the suspension on my truck with the 4wd setup? I've seen other posts about people taking brackets off the frame of the 4wd and welding them onto the 2wd. Is that just for the leavesprings?

I believe the frames on these trucks are the same 2 or 4 wd. It should be a bolt on affair. It would be easier having a whole 4wd to steal parts from rather than locate each one.

That's what i was starting to wonder. Everywhere I look people are taking off mounting brackets and welding them back on and things like that. Ill just keep my eye out for a 4x4 donor truck then
