1989 7.3l idi power issue
Hello Ford community, I have a 1989/90 f250 custom with a 7.3l idi with a stock transmission. Originally the transmission was having problems grabbing gears. I took it to the transmission shop and they tell me there's not enough power coming from the engine going to the computer thus the transmission is getting the wrong signals and can't shift properly. The problem was not bad enough to worry but needed to be fixed within a few months. A few weeks later the truck died while turning over to start. So after getting it start from hitting the started it dies before I can leave the parking lot. After three starters and the forth from Ford, and a new starting solenoid the truck started but died shortly after and none of the gages work. The truck will idle and not die now after being started a few times but if I put to much throttle into it the engine will die but will start right back up with only a few hiccups. This whole time the lights in the cab and out stay as bright as they should. Also this truck has 79,000 miles on It and was just finished being restored. If anyone has any idea what could be the problem it would be very appreciated. Thank you.

It sounds to me like you might have two seperate problems.
The very first thing you need to do is check alll your grounds. I'm no expert but it sounds like a bad or intermittent ground.
Second thing is either a bad ground is causing it to shut off the fuel, or its starving for fuel or sucking air. It could be as simple as the movement of the engine causing a ground to lose connection but I doubt it's that simple...
Check all your grounds, especially from the block to the battery, and cab to frame. I don't know where the grounds are, but there should probably be either a block to frame or frame to battery ground also.
