Replacing a motor...tips?

95 bronco with the 5L. Motor blew a head gasket, temp gauge never moved, super heated. Knocked and rattled. Zero compression on 3 opposite cylinders. Grabbed a junk yard motor with 100k on it and am swapping them next weekend. Tips?

I'm planning on changing the rear main, water pump and the normal tune up stuff.

Any time or knuckle saving tips?
