2008 Ranger, no low beams,

2008 Ranger, no low beams,
I have high beams but no low beams.
I have:
changed the lamps,
checked fuses 3,4, both are good
checked the rotary switch on the dash, works like it is supposed to.
None of this has helped.
Is the problem in the column?
I do not believe this truck has a relay for the low beams.
2008 ranger, 4 cylinder, base model truck.
Can anyone help me with this, or is it a dealer problem?
thanks a bunch,
John

i cant say i have the answer but i might help you find it/help the next guy who answers etc......when you say you checked the rotary switch...how did you check it specifically? also i am not familar with the 08 but do you not have a hi low beam switch lever on the column? Also i dont know if you have a relay either but i would find that out before i took it to the dealer.

If you have a relay, it should be marked as such in the power distribution or fuse panel.
The multifunction switch in the steering column operates the low beams or the relay by moving the lever forward and backward. I noticed on my 07 mariner that the switch from high to low is accompanied by the click of a relay, and some 'wait time' between moving the lever and the change in lights. I think it has a relay, but your truck may or may not...

Time to get a meter and a test probe out and start checking. Insure you do have power at low beam fuse. Just because the fuse appearrs to be good doesn't mean it is or the circuit is good. My bet is multfunction switch on column. You will need a schematic to know which wires and connectors to check. An FSM is the best but Haynes will work.

if your normal lights are working then i dont see how it could be anything else but your column hi beam switch....or at least that would be the first place to check to see if power is getting there.Put the hi beams on and if juice is not on the other side of the connection then you found your problem.
