04 f-250 5.4

I've put 3 starters on this truck in the past year and another one just died. It is the solenoids that keep going out. They have all been aftermarket units, Supposedly the best ones that the parts stores carry I've put them on plenty of other trucks with no issues. This truck will get a ford stater this time but there has to be something else going on here?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Starter issues are rare. You do not see many complaints, regardless of the engine.

Where are you purchasing these starters? Are they new or rebuilt units?

All starters have come from Advanced Auto Parts, The first one was a rebuilt the last two have been new units. I have them on plenty of other trucks, Have a fleet of 28 of these trucks. I only have one other truck that had one fail within less than a year and I replaced that one and it has been fine so far.

Have you checked the voltage from your battery? Might be giving the starter too much or little voltage. Can fry them pretty quick that way.

Yes, Alt is new and so is the battery. voltage always between 13.8 and 14.4 i believe the numbers were. Although all of that went on about 2 months after this current starter. Voltage was low before. Maybe that has been the cause all along.

Thanks for the tips guys

If the next one fails, try an OEM like motorcraft. Sometimes these fords are a bit picky
