Is it actually leaking from there? It almost never leaks from that o-ring.

Are you working on it with the HPOP still in the truck or out on a bench? Maybe you'll get lucky with a good magnet pulling the back plate off. If the o-ring is leaking then there should be a bad spot on the oring. Tap the edge of the plate with something to see if you can knock it crooked enough to pull the plate off.

The only way I have been able to get it out is by using compressed air into one of ports. Oil surface tension holds it on like vise grips ... LOL

The problem is that you will need a very large C-clamp to be able to slightly compress the new o-ring enough to re-seat the c-clip.

well, i opted not to remove it, didnt seem to be leaking when i took the HPOP out of the truck, so i just replaced every other seal on it, now i got it all back together and i have crank but no start, i did not replace the IPR, im getting plenty of fuel (bowl is full, and when i checked to see if there was anything in there, it squirted out...) i filled the HPOP reservior and now i cant get to that plug to see if i need to add more or not.. im gonna try to take the IPR senso wires off and see if it works that way.... any other ideas would help a bunch, im tired of messin with this truck....

Why cant you get to the plug to check the res.? It right on top. Also the ipr isn't like the icp, it has to be plugged in to run. Maybe try unplugging the icp, I think I read on another current post that this might unstick a stuck ipr! By the way sometimes it just takes a lil time to get it fired after having the hpo system opened! This is when the ae comes in handy!!

The plugs right on top. Pull it off and add oil there. If its full and all sensers are pluged in it should start. Had know problem when I changed mine. I just left a fuel line loose and it blow off, what a mess. I shouldn't of had lunch before starting.
