OBDII Scanner Alternative
Hi and yes I am back again....
Today's news,
I have spent the last week bench and road testing AN HTC (Dream) Android 1.5v smartphone, paired with a cheap Elm327 v1.2 Bluetooth OBDII dongle ($18.00), coupled with the "TOURQE" OBDII app ($4.99).
I first tested the setup with the free version of "TORQUE" although limited it worked well. I pondered for a week and finally spent the <$5.00 for the full app.
It has graphing capabilities that equal and maybe surpass the MS509 I tested some time ago.... Combined with the HTC's on-board GPS, I also have true OTR speed and acceleration/torque scales..
A logging feature is included with the capacity to Email the results..
So discounting the cost of the phone the setup cost me a whole $23.00....
I may add that during my test, calls were completed with no degradation to the call connection or the OBDII information... Philip
