I don't forsee my TTB goin anywhere for some time.

Jt as for the op, aif 35s are it I'd say a D44 from a 76-79 F150 78-79 bronco will do just fine.

IMO, for all the TTB haters; when it comes to IFS, which would you rather have? TTB, or the "one-ton cavalier-tastic" IFS found on Chebbies and any newish half ton? ...just sayin. That being said, the leaf-sprung TTB is super lame, hate away.

Also, I just traded my dilapidated (<--spelling?) 89 F250 + 302 for an 88 F350 4x4...soo I MAY have a spare 4.10 ball-joint D60 laying around for any SAS nuts...

lets keep all talk of for sale and buying in pm's and out of the open forums please.
we don't need anyone getting in trouble.

word has it the moderators here don't have a sense of humor when it comes to selling in the forums.

Do you guys feel that an SAS is a DIY home garage doable job?

I was thinking about taking my truck to a shop, but I know the price will be really high to do.

I have enough tools, but I am wondering about having a big enough welder for the track bar bracket - I have a Miller 135.

you don't need a welder for the track bar bracket.
it bolts in the same holes the TTB bracket bolts to.

and a D-60 swap takes 2 guys about 8 hours to complete.

with beer breaks included.

The stock track bar on teh F350s that bolts to the TTB holes is wayyyyyy too short IMO.

Also, if you do a shackle reversal you don't need a track bar and it will ride a wholleeeeee lot better. Plus you can get a little bit of lift out of it..

(Is the truck an F250 ?? )

Or if you want to keep the shackles up front, you can bolt on a trac bar bracket (that's how the radius arm late 70's half tons came from the factory) and if you're worried about it weld it on too, but the bolts will hold it fine.

Not to hijack (or unintentionally post a "for sale" ad), but how exactly is a shackle reversal accomplished on an 80-97 truck? Do you use dentside parts (not sure how the front hangers will go on), or something else...?

Sky Manufacturing sells a kit. Or you build your own crossmember for the front.

Going with coils. I like the radius arm looks.

I just learned that Ted Nugentʻs Bronco went solid too.

You're going with coils because of the way it looks?

Okay...

Go up in the tech thread and read my d60 into a 78/79 Bronco thread, should answer any questions you have. There are some other TTB to solid axle threads up there too which may be more helpful to you. What year is your truck?

Just for future reference. It makes it a hell of a lot easier for us to help you if you include all of the details about your truck in your first post that has the question you're asking. Year, model, etc. You also didn't mention which solid axle you want to put in. D44 or D60 or something else? These things are important so we can get you a quality answer and not lead you in the wrong direction.
