Season opened Saturday last.
Pulled my boat out of storage.
Couple broken lights.
Broke the antenna for the VHF radio.
Fixed all that and then discovered that the left trim tab isn't working.
Pump was frozen.
Fixed that.
Scheduled a trip to the shop to get the synchronization between the throttle and transmission dialed in.
I'm itchin to go fishin!
Reports of fish up to 28 lbs caught yesterday. The water was like a bathtub and 80 degree temps.
I should get into the water for less than a grand this year.
Anyone else getting ready????????????

It is still cold here, but not as cold as it was a couple of months ago Here in Anchorage the highs will be in the low 40's later this week.
There was a salmon derby already about a week ago south of Anchorage in Homer.
The mosquitos are still sleeping (not for long)......
>Is it true that the airport does not let them take off or land in the winter?
I assume you are talking about the mosquitos..... I wish the dang airport wouldn't let them take off at all

Yeah I'm talking about the mosquitos.
When I was just a lad about 8 yrs of age and all of about 54lbs.
soaking wet. My Family took a 30 day trip into the wilds of British Columbia. There were 8 of us kids and mom and dad piled up in a brand new Ford Country Squire wagon. At night mom and dad and the youngest slept in the wagon and the rest of us were left to our own defenses. With just a bag we would search out the safest most comfy spot and hope the critters wouldn't get us.
One hot August night I was sleeping on top of my bag and I became dinner for every mosquito north of Seattle. I must have been drained of most of my blood when I woke up I was at 150 feet above ground and being carried off by those pesky insects.
Nobody heard my cries for help over the roar of the wings. I managed to escape the next day when they abandoned me for a fat kid. I was taken in by some Tlinkit folks and ate seal blubber for what seemed like forever, Then a ferry boat brought me back to Seattle, and I hitchhiked down the coast fishing my way home.
I arrived the day after school started nobody new I was gone.
I still dont go to far north to this day. Anyway you probably are bigger than I was when I was 8 and I heard the bugs were particularly nasty and large that year, 1964 but I dont think I want to risk it.
Good luck fishing.

Friday's "Flavour of the day" was 6" anchovies behind a "Hot Spot" flasher down at 100'. Depending on the time of year, we also use Apex and Coyote spoons, whole herring and strip, or a variety of hootchies. Usually the "Army Truck", "Tiger Prawn", or "Ghost Shrimp" colours.
This is a Pink salmon year, so almost anything red will work come late July.

Karic:
Mooching with anchovies at 100' was the latest report out of Monterey, Lots of folks losing fish from slack line syndrome.
I called the shop and got my boat in two days earlier than scheduled, he says I should get it back before this weekend.
Although I see another of our northern skies dark clouds headed our way. apparently theres still not enough high pressure down here to keep the rain where it belongs. The forecast for fishing this weekend does not look to good. Oh well I still need to re spool a couple reels.
Later,
Franklin
PS wheres that guy that fishes Baja?
