Needs a cam

 

Ok Crane Cam installed, new chain, old timer crank gear (pre-72) thanks Bill "85LebaronT2" new lifter and it sounds and runs amazing. Now maybe I can bolt the drivers seat in and figure out the oil pressure gauge and windshield wiper motor problems. thank you God for not letting it snow or should I be thanking AlGore ....lol .

 

Larry, which oil pressure sender do you have? If the 84 had gauges, you will have a large bell shaped sender that is a variable resistor. If you had idiot lights it will be a small one with wrench flats. Either way, for 89 up gauges you need the 89 up sender. The oil pressure "gauge" after 89 is simply a pressure indicator, sort of a reverse idiot light.

 

I think there's a way to set it up where the 89+ "pressure indicator" gauge can be made to read actual pressure. I seem to recall it involving switching out sending units or something..

 

I would go aftermarket. That way you won't just have a either a light or a gauge that means nothing with a L|______|H indicator. I like to have numbers...

 

This is true.

My factory oil gauge moved about like a pinball paddle....once I hooked up an Autometer gauge I beheld steady readings of 50-70psi. Granted, the IVR on the stock gauge cluster isn't exactly a precision device, but before the Autometer I never knew what was really going on.

 

Been way to long had many other projects that got in the way, so on to better things, here is the plow frame we came up with for this beast.

 

due have a strong vibration that gets stronger in the drivetrain I have to figure out, hoping it's a tire issue.

 

What speed is it showing up at? Does it vary with changes in load, accelerating vs decelerating?

 

Please contact me! I am currently going to attempt taking my first truck (84 f250 2x4 single cab 351w) body and putting it on my current daily (95 f250 4x4 351w single cab) the 95 body is toast. But my 84 is mint. But I want a twist. Put my 95 interior into the 84 cab.

 

Ok, I did essentially that, I have a 1995/6 interior in my 1986 crew cab. A lot of the details are in my thread on it. I haven't been super active on here in quite a while due to a bunch of changes in the way the site is run.
