Help!!!! I've got a 94 Explorer i've had this problem for about a year already. The truck (125,000) runs fabulous (when it runs) I'll try to start it, and it just cranks.........no spark(i cheched it when this occurs) and no fuel pump whinning. I'll try starting it again a few minutes later and she runs great.............??????I've changed the crankshaft position sensor already. But it is still there. Now it takes hours before she'll start up again. Any help would be appreciated.
Not so much to read a code out but to see if the EEC is even getting power. Go to www.batauto.com and click on tech to get the procedure, only needs a jumper. I might expect an electrical problem with the EEC relay. Can you tell if it clicks? Tru pulling out the main fuses to see if there is burning or corrosion on the contacts. Some people have reported these similar intermitant fuse contact problems with alternator and fuel pump.
Good advice on the EEC relay; I had one fail on my 94 Ranger at 20k miles in a similar manner. They are cheap to buy too. On the ranger and prolly the explorer, it is found in the power distribution box under the hood and above the left front wheel well.
