thanks, thats an awesome looking truck. reason i was asking is i like the looks of a bed but i would rather have the functionality of the flatbed. i have always been skeptical since my truck is SRW. but i like the looks of yours... looks good

Looks like you have beefed up rear springs.....Is this true? CC short bed? No "5th wheel"?

I was thinking of a changing mine in to a flat bed when it got "totaled"

But did this instead

I kinda wished I went a flat bed at times and I do miss my "regular" bed but I also like this too

I just got a new water pump and am getting ready to take out the old one. I have done water pumps before on gas motors and assume that they are the same, i was just checking if you have tips or tricks that will make the project go faster. Thaks

I haven't done the water pump yet (knock on wood) but I believe they are the same basically. I have heard people will cut the shroud in two and "latch" it back together for easy removal or get it out of the way easily.

Just hold a big chisel at a angle and wack the big bolt on the fan to loosen it. Take off the fan & clutch with the blades on, it comes out WITH the fan shroud as one unit. Put a piece of cardboard against the radiator to protect it when you raise the fan and shroud up. You might hit the radiator because the fan clutch is heavy, don't ask me how I know, LOL. From there, common sense.

I used a chisel because I didn't have the wrench but some have said you can borrow one from some parts stores.

even with the wrenches, it is a pain in the *** to get the fan off.
when you put the fan back on, use locktite on the threads to keep the fan from visiting the radiator at 3 am sunday morning 500 miles from home.

Air hammer is your friend. Get a round punch, put it in the air hammer, and jar the fan clutch nut.... works like a charm

unfortunalty i do not have an air hammer.

Now i have a really rookie question. There is an arrow on the fan clutch with a direction to spin it. Is the arrow the direction to tighten or loosen the damn thing.
